Reviewing the Mercedes-Benz C-Class C 300

Cinematic screens, more power under the hood than ever before, and seductive luxury crafting in every square inch. Meet the 2020 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C 300.

Internet reviews calling the C-Class “sensually sculpted” might sound dramatic - until you see it for yourself.

The bold and ritzy body is lighter and more compact than the E-Class, but still easily comparable to (but much cheaper than) one of the world’s most top-tier, most-coveted, ultimate luxury vehicles: the storied Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

The C-Class’s exterior is sleek and imposing, even without optional extras like a diamond-block grille, special sport brakes and steering wheel, or glossy black elements included in the Night Package. All-LED lighting helps accentuate the elegance even further, allowing you to see and be seen more beautifully than ever. Previously optional, the 2020 C-Class now comes standard with gorgeous 18-inch, 5-spoke alloy wheels, as well. In further good news, C-Class shoppers have a color palette of ten different hues to choose from.

Things only get better as you take your seat, where you’ll discover that the C-Class lineup proudly boasts one of the most upscale and refined interiors of its kind. Typical for Mercedes-Benz, every single stitch has obviously been crafted with the utmost care, creating a more sophisticated ride than most people see in their lifetimes. The previously optional 10.25” infotainment display is now standard, and produces some of the crispest graphics in the automotive game. Shoppers will be presented with their choice of a multitude of synthetic-leather upholstery and wood trim color combinations, and be relieved to see impressive in-cabin storage capability. All four doors bear large and well-blended storage compartments and bottle slots, and plenty of trunk space!

Mercedes-Benz is the reining champion of finding ways to successfully wrap their ever-growing collection of technical advances in minimalistic and luxurious style. The functional and feature-rich C-Class follows suit, its beauty not at all inhibited by overcrowded knobs or too-hard-to-figure-out controls. The standard 10.25” center screen (as well as the optional 12.3”) is refreshingly easy to understand and navigate, and looks incredible.

Two screens reminiscent of smart phones sit under your thumbs on the steering wheel, allowing you to scroll and swipe through the long list of included technological features we’ve come to expect from Mercedes-Benz. Navigation options have improved in the 2020 C-Class, including the COMAND voice control system. Drivers can also enjoy standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Even the entry-level model is overflowing with the kind of advanced luxuries you would only expect from a much pricier vehicle. Feel like you’re driving a new vehicle every evening with 64 different LED ambient lighting options (the world’s best mood ring?), enjoy wireless phone charging, and a more comfortable and poised ride than you could probably imagine, thanks to plush seating and excellent suspension tuning. Feel at peace tucked away from any wind or road noise while your ears thank you for upgrading to a Burmester audio system.

Other standard and optional luxury features in the C-Class include keyless ignition, hands-free trunk opening and closing, moonroof, driver-seat memory, dual- or tri-zone climate control, a HomeLink garage door opener, the famed head-up display, heated and ventilated seats, and a heated steering wheel.

Fortunately, Mercedes-Benz’s C-Class isn’t all bells and whistles; Drivers can enjoy levels of agility, strength, and endurance that match up to this luxury vehicle’s physical beauty. Turbo power, nine speeds, available all-wheel drive, a twin-scroll turbo, direct injection and CAMTRONIC valve adjustment glide you forward with 255hp, 273 lb-ft of torque, and an efficient 35 highway miles per gallon. With an included driving mode for every mood you may find yourself in, the C-Class is designed to move you, and engineered to move you ahead.

The C-Class has been graced with some new standard features for 2020, including a driving favorite: blind-spot monitoring. Multi-element LED headlights are also standard, offering brighter and better illumination (and further enhancing its already striking appearance). Opt for the LED Intelligent Light System, which automatically adapts its unique light for approaching vehicles and curves on the road.

Other advanced standard safety features include rain-sensing windshield wipers, heated, power-adjustable-and-folding and auto-dimming side-view mirrors, and six airbags. That list continues on with attention assist, active brake assist, crosswind assist, rearview camera, emergency call services, Mercedes-Benz’s Pre-Safe, and advanced tire-pressure monitoring.

The optional safety features on this model create an extensive list, including active-steering assist, lane-keeping assist, parking assist, speed limit assist, rear cross-traffic alert, surround-view, and semi-autonomous, adaptive cruise control.

If that’s not enough to convince you, rest assured knowing that the Mercedes-Benz C-Class has been given an overall safety rating of five starts by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and was a 2019 Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (their top honor!). The 2020 model has yet to be tested, but should follow suit.
